The Department of Urban and Environmental Engineering is engaged in study and research from the viewpoint of engineering, seeking the creation of new environments designed to balance nature and society. The main fields of study are Environmental Engineering, Ecological Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, and Transportation and Urban Planning. Environmental Engineering covers the recycling society and the regeneration of recyclable resources, urban environment issues, and natural environment regeneration. Hydraulic Engineering studies the hydraulic environments of rivers, coasts, lakes and marshes, as well as their technical development for usage as energy. Transportation and Urban Planning seeks to construct effective and comfortable urban environments for all residents. We work to complement each other's research and to advance all other basic and applicable research with a global approach, an interdisciplinary development and advanced scientific technology. We also aim to systematically nurture engineers, researchers, and educators who will successfully address the environmental issues of the future.
