Dr. Hemanta Hazarika
Civil engineering uses the principles of engineering to make the best possible use of public spaces and facilities. A major goal of civil engineers is the safe design and construction of buildings and infrastructural facilities by taming the forces of nature. Our department, one of the founding departments of Kyushu University, is involved in research on many specialized areas : structural and earthquake engineering, structural design and concrete engineering, geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, urban planning, architecture of infrastructure and environment, urban environment and river engineering, coastal engineering, and environmental system engineering. Each specialization has laboratories equipped with advanced instrumentations for teaching and research. Special emphasis is also on education and research related to hazards mitigation from natural disasters such as earthquakes , heavy rainfall, typhoons, and tsunamis. The broad spectrum of knowledge and skills you acquire through our program, will shape your career solidly towards becoming a professional with global perspectives.
