We conduct research on new technologies aimed at realizing next-generation wearable displays and energy production based on nuclear fusion, which is often referred to as the ultimate clean energy source. In particular, our research focuses on next-generation semiconductor lasers that serve as key devices for these applications. Our work spans semiconductor wafer processing for laser fabrication, device characterization, design, simulation, and the use of AI-based techniques.

This laboratory was newly established in fiscal year 2025, and we are looking for motivated and energetic students who are excited to help build the lab from the ground up.

Shown here is an experiment in which light emitted from red, green, and blue semiconductor lasers is projected onto a screen to generate various colors, including white.
