Department of Materials, School of Engineering

To improve energy efficiency in manufacturing process, our laboratory focuses on powder materials with easy material transformation due to their high surface area, e.g., powder materials (steel or magnetic powder, for example) or sintered materials or an approach for design of sintered materials such as mathematical science. Below is a list of some of the areas of research currently underway in our Lab.

The Main Research Topics

  • Analysis of fracture process by in-situ observing 3D structure of porous materials. (ductile fracture/ fatigue fracture)
  • Designing high toughness sintered material with network structure.
  • Proposal of a viscous flow compaction process of metallic glass powder supported thermal relaxation by sub-Tg pre-heating.
  • Analysis of mechanism where coercive force induced in magnetic powder cores.
