【Free】Silicon Valley-style “Zero to One” Entrepreneurship Program - ZTO - Participants Wanted (Free of Charge)! Deadline 1/30

06 January 2026

The Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Engineering are offering Engineering Leaders English Program (ELEP), a short-term program that sends engineering students to Silicon Valley in the United States. ZTO (Zero to One), which is incorporated into ELEP, will be held at the Kyushu University Ito Campus and is open to all students in Kyushu University.

This is a virtual startup workshop based on design thinking that aims to “create something (One) from nothing (Zero)”. Participants will learn the method of “design thinking” and skill up their innovation skills. At the end of the 5-day workshop, you will present the business plan you created in a group.

This year's theme is “Discover Japan's best qualities and promote them to the world”. The current yen's depreciation, which has reached a historic level, is deeply related to the trade deficit, which can be called the “structural issue of the Japanese economy”. The expansion of this trade deficit is due not only to the soaring price of resources and the depreciation of the yen, but also to the decline in the competitiveness of Japanese companies. Now is the time to think about how to turn this crisis into an opportunity.

This is a perfect opportunity to learn about design thinking and the basics of startup! Why not spend your spring break with students from other faculties and have a fruitful time?
