Regardless of whether you intend to enroll in Kyushu University as a degree (Master's or Doctoral) student or a non-degree (research) student, you must FIRST get in contact with a Kyushu U faculty member under whom you wish to conduct research, and discuss the details of your research. You may THEN officially apply to the Graduate School of Engineering.

2. How to get in contact with our faculty members
Please note that each of our faculty members has his/ her own preferred method of contact.
2-1. For faculty members whose names appear in the list below, please contact the Pre-Admission Support Desk (PSD) first.

Please bear in mind that even if you are able to contact your preferred supervisor via PSD, it does not necessarily mean that he/she will give you an informal consent to supervise you. For more information about our pre-admission support scheme, please click HERE.
2-2. For faculty members whose names do not appear on the list (“the list of faculty members of the Graduate School of Engineering who use the PSD system”), please try to contact them DIRECTLY via the e-mail addresses given in 1-1 and/or 1-2 above. However, even if you are able to contact your preferred supervisor directly, it does not necessarily mean that he/she will give you an informal consent to supervise you.
NB: even if you cannot reach your preferred supervisor on your own, PSD will not help you contact him/ her on your behalf unless his/ her name appears on “the list of faculty members of the Graduate School of Engineering who use the PSD system.”

Applicants who want to apply for research student at Kyushu University must hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent to a Bachelor degree. When applying for admission as a research student, it is necessary to obtain the prior approval of the prospective supervisor. Also please submit documents via your prospective supervisor.

A Japanese Language Proficiency Certificate is a certificate from a Japanese Language Proficiency Test such as the JLPT. You can also submit the certificate which is issued by Japanese Language School. If you have difficulty submitting any of the above certificates, please consult your supervisor at Kyushu University for a prescribed form.
